[He turns on his audio, and there's a click. And he almost makes a post. Almost. But he can't think of what to say, so it goes away just as soon as it started.]

[And after that failure, he leaves his room to go the short distance back to the infirmary to check on people. He needs to make sure Jesse is recovering, and try not to think about what it is he did or didn't do. Or even what happened to his accent. He doesn't even know why that's one of the things he's having trouble coming back from. Or why his body suddenly feels even more like an uncertain fit.

Having something to do and someone to look out for will help.]

[And here comes a Wanda, heading for the Infirmary as well, doing something she hasn't done for months--delivering sandwiches to the staff.]

Hey Doctor. [She shifts the basket onto one arm and waves. But her faint smile falters when she sees his face.]

Good afternoon, Wanda! What have you brought us... [He doesn't seem particularly upset, or happy, or angry. Just confused. He does give her a brief smile again before seriousness takes hold.]

[Dick escaped from the breach pretty unscathed, all things considered, and while it's definitely weird to have memories of some other not quite version of him floating around in his head, it's nothing he hasn't dealt with before which probably explained why he sometimes had vivid dreams about the Civil War and the old west and shouting things like HOLY SARDINE.

Still, he's coming down to the infirmary to see if there's anything he can do to help with people who were less fortunate, and spots the Doctor almost immediately, heading over to see how he's doing after their breach adventures.]

[She blinks a bit and debates prying, then dismisses it for the moment.] Oh uh...I got on a sandwich making kick and figured I'd...you know, bring some down. I used to do that a lot after big things happened. You guys in the infirmary don't get a chance to leave...you know how it goes. [Mild awkward.]

This Breach was...interesting. I was a street rat who failed at dressing as a boy.

This seemed an odd breach for wanting to alter gender through attire. [And he raises a brow. But at the moment he just sits on an infirmary chair to eat his sandwich, and is far less excitable than usual.]

I hope you've not had trouble?

Oh, yeah, well, Scarlet seemed to take the old human legend about women being bad luck on ships to heart. But she was so bad at pretending to be a boy that pretty much everyone picked her out anyway.

Trouble? Oh no. I mean, Richie is creepy in any incarnation, but I handled it without any messiness.

You, I mean, you weren't turned into anyone horrible, I hope?

[He looks distracted as he glances up from what he's doing, and then pops off his hat to Dick in a quick greeting.]

Good to see you here. Fortunately things aren't terrible. It's relatively slow.

Ah... well. Superstition makes things difficult for everyone. [He gets up to go pour himself a cup of water.]

No one horrible. Just human. Very, very human. [Thoughtfully, and he taps the rim of his paper cup with his finger.]

Meh, she was okay. She needed to stop idealizing pirates though. The ones who stayed ashore in that place were the lucky ones. You want a clementine?

[She pauses and frowns.]

I can sort of imagine that would be really disorienting. I mean, we mutants come from human families and a human culture, so even if we come back a little confused we're at least used to most of it. But someone not human, who comes from a totally different culture set and mores and all that...yeah.

You uh...need a distraction?

Good. Nice to know the Admiral still feels like throwing us a bone, occasionally. [Because after that last port, we really don't need yet another totally violent horrific awful thing. :|||]

How are you doing?

No thank you. [He drinks as she's talking, and then just gives her a quaint smile over the glass.]

It is something like that, yes. Behavior typical of us is not typical of them and vice versa. Even if I don't prattle on about it as loudly as the Coordinator I do notice the differences.

You don't have to prattle for me to feel you on this. Not after being turned into my evil, slutty self that one time. It was so Not Me. Even if her boyfriend was the same person I would have gone for in his good incarnation. [Shifty eyes.]

Better than the usual, yes. [But he doesn't sound angry. Or enthusiastic. He just sounds... befuddled.]

Ah, did you do well with the map? What were his plans?

The strange thing is, my dear, this body feels just as an odd a fit as memories of the human one. That human one simply had a nicely well-acquainted mind to go along with it.

Uhoh. Like...psychic leftovers from being him? [That sounds like eight kinds of nasty.] Or...

[She goes quiet. Maybe he's having a rough time period.] I shouldn't pry. But these things can sometimes aggravate stuff that's already brewing, you know?

[Dick files that away, knowing not to necessarily push him right now on that, but wondering what was going on. It hadn't really seemed like that bad of a breach, honestly.]

I think he was trying to pass on his fortune to someone who wasn't going to just toss it on the pile and go back to burning down villages.

[Jesse is recovering, albeit more slowly than he'd like. He tries to sit up when he spots the Doctor approaching, gritting his teeth against the pain in his chest.] Hey.

Relax. You've an excuse to take it easy. Moving about won't make it more comfortable. [He comes over to check and see what medication he's received. The focus he prefers.]

What happened precisely?

[championoftime]

[He shrugs it off.] It's nothing traumatic. Nothing violent. Nothing insulting or base. It's unusual. ...But I suppose it's also nothing.

[He takes a deep breath, wipes a hand down his face, and gives her a chipper grin.] I hope you brought some for Dr. McCoy!

[championoftime]

That would have been the preferable destiny, I know. My alternate self wasn't a bad man. He had quite a bit of love in his hearts-heart. [Anatomy...]

[There are no medications listed on the chart, other than whatever was needed to bring him back from the dead -- in fact, it might even be noted that he's refused everything else. But Jesse notices him checking, with a little scowl.]

I talked to McCoy back in the day. Back after Hoffman. I told you, I'm living clean now. And nothing -- it was a-- breach. [He tries to sit up fully again, fails, and sinks back, breathing hard.] Although if you really wanna know, I got pretty fucking drunk first. Other me.

Well...probably not nothing. But you're a really smart guy. Whatever it is, you'll figure out what to do.

[Subject change! Ok, sure.] Um--yeah, plenty. I didn't know how big eaters you guys are so I took a nose count and made two subs each.

[batmanschmatman]

[Dick nods a little.] He was a good guy. Although I guess I'm a little concerned mine was on the fast track to getting himself killed. Not that I'm really one to talk about running into things without thinking about it when people you love are in danger, but.

[championoftime]

I'm not concerned about you, but rather I don't know if one of our aids might have confused what they should give you. [He puts the clipboard down when he's done. And hahaha, oh, that breach.] That breach also had a tendency toward promoting some rather questionable activities. Will you still be able to resist it?

[championoftime]

If it helps any, he looked like the sort that would miraculously survive it no matter how ill-advised the undertaking.

[And then he takes Dick by the arm, and decides to lead Dick over to the sandwiches Wanda left.]
