[He's trying to be as calm as possible. But what led to what went wrong was needless violence- and again, there's needless violence. The truth is, he doesn't want to admit the dreams came from him because he knows that it will make matters worse. He really wishes that he could write it off as a flood, but it went on entirely too long.] I apologize for the delay in addressing the matter. I was busy dealing with the object [object] responsible for the shared dreams, and then I was needed in the infirmary.

It was an accident, not a calculated strike. It's gone now. You can rest easier.

[He hopes.] That's all the information I'm at liberty to give. Dick passed on the necessary information pertaining to the other events that have transpired.

Are you all right, love? [The strain in his voice has her worried.] Anything I can help with or distract from?

No, I'm not well at all.

[Sadly.] As for what can be done, I don't have a clue. [He never has a clue. It just piles up and manifests in horrors. He's afraid of what his mind is becoming.]

Right, I was worried you would say that.

I'd like two things if I may. A few hours of your time--bring an empty stomach--and a conversation with your Lady.

[What he can't face alone, perhaps he can't face with support. Or a break. Or both.]

I'll be there on a bell and a prayer.

[His hear wasn't in that mixed metaphor.]

[The door is open when he gets there. Arkady, ever a DIY girl, was doing mending, and clears aside a pile of filmy dresses off the ouch so he'll have a place to sit down. Bertie Rooster immediately hops up and steals the seat.] Bertie. Bad.

[He gives Bertie a quick, sad smile. But doesn't offer to shoo him. He can sit anywhere.] I apologize for taking up your space, sir.

[Arkady grumbles and gathers him onto her lap.] There's not much between him and a cat besides the beak and feathers.

Come, sit. Tea-water's on.

[He settles down, watching the chicken as he waits.] I'm simply exhausted. It was me. It was all me. The dreams, they were because I cracked open everyone's awareness of each other.

[She winces, and reaches for his hand.] Did you mean to? Because I admit, I've thought about it myself. More than once.

In fact for a while I rather wondered if it was me.

No... no. Not intentional. The more frustrated I was, the stronger it became.

No wonder you're exhausted. [She scoots closer, making the rooster grump at her.] You need your neck done, then?

[A long hesitation.]

You want so badly to help everyone. I can hardly wag my finger. Especially since the temptation's always been there for me as well. There is so much...brilliance and awesomeness hidden in the people here if...they could just see it in each other.

If you want. The muscles are a little different than you might remember- [err...] From my flood self. As I'm not human. You know, just go ahead.

[He sighs though.] I think deep down, it's what I wanted most.

I'll sort it out. [She toys with his hair briefly before exploring his neck muscles with her fingertips. Once she has the lay of them she starts to knead gently.]

Well, I know that even if it was accidental, unplanned and uncontrolled, it was actually a partial success. I myself connected very nicely with a few people, and it seems to have prompted a lot of conversation, which can only be good.

[He almost melts under her hands when she starts kneading.] Then I'm glad I wasn't the source of another utter disaster. Perhaps just a slight mishap.

[She continues kneading, while Bertie peers up at the Doctor with what might be jealousy.]

A mixed event. Chaos isn't always bad. I had a brilliant conversation with Chronormu, for example.

What are you looking at me for. She's horrible at laying eggs. Ask her... [He says out loud.]

He's jealous that you're getting ruff-scritches when he's not. I'll fix that later. [She keeps tending to the Doctor's stiff muscles gently.]
