[Giving up on that would mean he was used to getting hugged in the first place, and while the Barge has been kinder to him on that front than his old life, it's still not something he exactly plans for. But the truth is, he's so close to overwhelmed that he probably would have done it himself in another second, and he doesn't protest now, no matter how lame or gay or stupid it is.
He squeezes his eyes shut and puts his arms tight around the Doctor, taking a few beats to let himself be overwhelmed with the reality of things: that here, finally, is someone who believed in him, who got him here, and it's the last time they'll see each other.]
