I understand you're a friend of Dallas's? I'd like to know more about your personal experiences with him- if you're not opposed, that is.

I must admit, these concerns about doctor/patient confidentiality from Mr. Russett I worry might lead to a very inappropriate opinion from his inmate, who desires to become a physician. While seeking to teach him to be more open and welcoming, he regards groups of people with suspicion.

[Which, given his loyalties to his fake-family members, he tries not to show too much investment in Victor. But there's a point when things can't be ignored, and he'd rather Rex not be treated with even more suspicion if he did manage to become a doctor again himself.]

This is going to affect morale and the ability to treat patients. It should be dealt with, but I'm not certain how.

[Dally's eyebrows raise the instant he sees the TARDIS, standing there in all her blue glory. Not at all what he'd been expecting.]

C'mon, Doc. What am I lookin' at?

[He strides into the cabin, directly over to the TARDIS, giving it a tap with his fist.]

How's this a ship? Looks like nothin' but a couple pieces of wood painted blue.

It does a bit, doesn't it? She used to be able to take on any form. But then at some point decided she was fed up with changing.

[He wonders over, fiddles with a ring of too many keys (why does he have this ring? He misses just having the one key!) before locating one with the Seal of Rassilon and using it to unlock the door. And he swings it open.

Massive white room, not that different from his living room. Just with a console in the center instead of furniture.]

Inside the tiny little box.]

You're welcome to have a look around. [He's guessing Dally might want to check the outside first.]

[Dallas takes one step inside, and his eyes go wide. It takes a lot to surprise Dallas, but this definitely takes the cake. He takes a step out the door, raps a fist against the wall of the TARDIS again, and steps back inside, his mind trying to work all of this out.

Of course, the Doctor did tell him it was bigger on the inside, but he was't expecting this.]

Glory... [He peeks his head out the door again, eyebrows knitted together.] I don't even know why I'm surprised.

My pockets actually do that as well! [He proudly watches Dallas examine the ship, and the TARDIS faintly hums with vibration wherever she's touched.]

It's called dimensional transcendence. Or very good storage space.

You're allowed to be surprised by something you've never seen before.

[He's super impressed, if it weren't easy to tell. He helps himself to a walk about the console, a surprising amount of curiosity on his face. This is Dallas, after all.]

Man, it's somethin' I don't think I'm ever gonna see anywhere else either. This is crazy.

I am fairly certain it's not common technology. [He shuts the door and goes to the console, and hits a few buttons. Then the TARDIS starts to Vworp.]

Give it a moment. I'll show you a very good view of the ship.

O-oh, naw, I wouldn'ta minded...don't figure Dallas would've either...you bein' his warden an' all...

Sure is nice to meet you now, though...

I would like to think I was his friend before I was his warden.

It's good to meet you, too! I'm hoping sometime you can tell me how you came to know each other.

Oh, me and Dally? We met back in Tulsa--err, Oklahoma, that is. Where we're from, I mean...

He'd mentioned that. I take it was difficult for you both there.

Oh, I dunno...maybe toward the end it was...We got by all right though, Dally 'n me.

Briefly I met a friend of his. Darry. Do you recall him? He was on the Barge- really only for a day or so. I wasn't his warden then. He seemed quite nice.

Darry, yea...

[His face falls just a bit, thinking about him, but he keeps a small smile on his face.]

Darry's a good ol' guy, yea...I wish Dally'd been able to see him while he was here...

[Concerned. He sees that sad look happen, even with that bit of a smile. He knows all about sad smiles.]

Did something happen to him?

O-oh no, far as I know he's back home with his brother's...Was only on the barge a few days...

Thinking back on it, I guess it was some sorta flood or somethin'...I dunno, it's a little selfish...Just wish he could'a stayed, or that I could'a seen him a little longer...That's all...

No, it makes perfect sense to me. [Sympathetically.] Whenever I've not seen someone in a while, I wish I could be around them longer.

Dally tries to do a lot to keep you safe, I do notice that.

Oh yea...Dal's always taken care a'me, I guess, when he wasn't in jail or somethin'...

All of us...we took care of each other, back home. Just that me 'n Dal are the only ones here now...so we gotta look out for each other, ya know?

Did anything ever happen to you while he was in jail? [He can tell that Dallas cares a lot about Johnny. Though he feels a little guilty about depending on his caring for Johnny so much to bring out Dallas's humane side.

But still... it wouldn't hurt to tell him...]

I think you're very likely the most important person in the world to that young man.

H-huh? Oh...oh golly, I dunno about that one...I mean...Dally, he takes care'a all of us...I guess I just needed more help 'n some people, that's all...I mean...

Dal's a real good buddy 'a mine, but I don't figure I'm any more 'portant to him than anyone else...

I was always fine while he was in jail. Had everyone else to look after me, you know?
