I hope you've considered who you might visit first. I would personally recommend your brother.

Because now you're in a position to act on it.

[Private to Friends | Audio]

[Timed to later.]

I would prefer you keep it to yourselves, but it seems that finally my efforts have yielded some success. Mr. Pinkman has graduated. [And there's an element of disbelief there, too. A whole weight is lifting off of him.]

And very soon, I will be leaving.

[Private to Dr. McCoy | Audio]

I need to have a frank discussion with you, when you are in the mood and have the time.

Good luck, Doctor, wherever you go. I would tell you to avoid interfering in alien affairs, but, renegade that you are, I doubt you'll listen.

[Snark is the best way to cover up that he's a bit sad because he may never see this incarnation again once they're off in different universes pursuing their different business.]

I'm sure your memory will spring to mind every time I meet a reckless meddler. [He'll miss you, Doctor.

He looks away from the screen, taps his fingers. Goodbyes are hard and he's still not used to them.]

You would have made a good CIA operative, Doctor. [Narvin's version of saying, "I don't dislike you."]

[Narvin scoffs. His inferiority complex is easily irritated.]

Hardly the best. Had you joined willingly, we might have been able to make something of you. But as it was you were undisciplined, uncontrollable, and incapable of following orders.

Insufferable. [He mutters.]

[It takes a moment for Narvin to realize what the Doctor is talking about, since in his mind he thinks of it as "What the Other Wrote."]

You? Don't you mean your flood-altered self?
timesbureaucrat: (hmm)

[Private]

[personal profile] timesbureaucrat 2012-07-04 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Right.

[Narvin doesn't know what to make of that tone of voice, or what that might mean. The alterations were written by the Doctor's flood-self, not his self-self, right? Yes, of course. Because those things were written by the Other, and the Doctor was not the Other, he was the Doctor.

Although there were those legends about the Other...]

You're from the House of Lungbarrow, aren't you?

It's an ancient and renowned House.

[And associated with the Other in the legends.]

I couldn't say how it compares to the aristocracy of Gallifrey's past. I wasn't there back then.

[Narvin is indeed confused. It seems impossible, but sometimes impossible things turned out to be true. Or perhaps the Doctor is simply having him on. This will take some thought before he can come to any conclusions. Unfortunately, with the Doctor leaving, whatever conclusion Narvin comes to, he won't be able to tell the Doctor.]

And to you.

Doctor. [Or Other. Or perhaps both.]
