[He appears on the screen, holding a squirmy mongoose. That terrible jester marionette of his? Still sitting on the back of his couch. He's hesitant because he knows what's been going on, and there's some potentially terrible things that he could be admitting about himself right now. So he's going to try really hard not to!] Harper! This is actually your pet. I'm duty bound to return it to you... I have no idea what it's name is.

[And a pause. Okay! Let's go with-] I know how to play the spoons!

[Really?

That's it?

He sighs in relief.] I was worried for a moment that I was going to say something considerably worse! [He ignores the mongoose considering a voyage down his pullover.] Such as the fact I know I'm the most problematic, repugnant, and unpleasant of the lot of me and I'd been better off not even having gone through this regeneration.

[Wait.] Ignore that bit. [He makes a pissy huff and cuts the feed.]

It won't help. The only thing I have to go back to is where they come from. I was taken there when I died.

He didn't send the Rani back to before the Time War. I doubt you'll be condemned to an equally dismal place. You'll have something better when you're finished here even if I have to see to it. [He has a time ship and he's not afraid to use it.]

...this probably doesn't make any sense, but before I came here, I was only there for two weeks. I remember that exact stretch of time clearly. I was also there for at least 25 years during the same stretch, which I also remember clearly. Both of those things are true...at the same time.

I've tried to explain this to Paddy so many times, but it's hard when I don't get it either. Let's say it's just not as easy to escape as you might think.

It makes sense to me. [Because Time Lords are weird.] We have rooms that can perform similar effects. To us, anyway, there is both the time that passes, and the alteration of your own perception of time that passes.

In any case, I don't think it's impossible. Any more than my coat pockets are. [And he puts the whole mongoose down in his coat pocket with that. No wiggly lump or anything. It just seems to be gone.] One step at a time.

It is. The pocket's bigger on the inside. [And he reaches in. Pulls out a can of tuna, some napkins, a box of thumbtacks, his sonic screwdriver, a magnifying glass, another can of tuna, another can of tuna... he was going to use those for something, he was sure... and Oh! There's the mongoose. He sits it down to let it slink off.]

If Harper doesn't come for him, I'd be glad to know he went to a loving owner. With less tools he can abscond with.
